Pork has certain proteins which are termed as harmful for the body. The body is unable to digest those proteins and the resultant is an allergy. The presence of protein named 65k-Da is the main cause of allergy in the body. This is rare but the only strong cause which has been detected so far. The immune system of the body reacts in a hyper sensitive manner to the intake of such proteins. It can have a number of symptoms like asthma, rashes, sneezing and breathing problems.
It is not necessary that the pork meat itself is the reason behind body allergy, but there are many other factors which may affect the body. For example, the chemicals which are used to process pork meat like casein or papain may also be one of the causes for allergy through pork consumption. These chemicals get mixed with the proteins of the pork and may be harmful for the body when consumed. Also, the use of antibiotics before processing the pork meat may also be one of the reasons. There are people who can be allergic to such antibiotics and having such meat can cause allergy to them.
At times it becomes difficult to identify which food causes allergy because we consume a variety of food. That is why it is advisable to take food tests which lays down all the possible outcomes- good or bad, which can affect the body from that particular food. Many people do not get to know when they get affected by the pork meat because of the long duration affect on the body. The symptoms may not be prompt enough to get identified then and there. They may come at a later stage but you will get an intuition that something is going wrong with the body.
There are many symptoms through which the doctors may detect that you have a pork allergy. They may vary from abdominal upset, wheezing, breathing difficulties, asthma attacks, vomiting and nausea to itchiness and hives and headaches. If the condition is not detected, then it may also lead to sudden drop of blood pressure, swelling of throat and lips which may lead to difficulty in breathing. F it is not diagnosed in time, it may even lead to severe breathing problems as the airway may become fully obstructed.
It is better to avoid pork meat to prevent allergy. There are certain supplements which can ease down the symptoms of the allergy, such as vitamin A which improves the functions of immune system, iron and eucalyptus which helps to ease the respiratory symptoms.
